Hello my name is Blessing. I know I am pretty scary in this picture but mom wanted me to talk to you about Shelters and the number of animals that are killed in them. You see I might have been one of the that was killed because of what people had done to me - No one wanted me and people were very cruel to me. But mom saw me and somehow saw a beauty in me that no one else could. I was so afraid of her at first but she had soft gentle hands and sang to me and fed me good foods. I was in newspapers and people from all over the world helped me. Mom cried all the time telling me I was loved and needed in this world and that I was never to forget it. Everyone made me feel special and I made it. and look at me now. I am happy and carefree and well thanks to so many people and although I have a stage four heart murmur and mom almost lost me a month ago I am still filled with the love and kindness of many people.

Help Us With Our Food Drive

Hi everyone. My name is Zrii. I am a hybrid. And they say I am the biggest baby at the Sanctuary. Can I help it if I like to be with my mom and when she leaves I whine like a baby? I just want her to know I love her. I love everyone and everything. But well I am here to tell you about something important. We are doing a food drive. We eat a lot of food at the Sanctuary, almost 550 pounds of food a day. But Pedigree has made it easy to donate food to help us and know exactly where the money is going. If you click on the title of this post (http://www.dogsrule.com/03Adoption/Other%20ways%20to%20help/donate.aspx) or on this link it will take you to the Dogs Rule Site. For every bag of pedigree or every can of canned food you buy for the animals they will match the same. Then they send coupons and mom or someone goes to the store gets the food (and peas and chicken and carrots and liver to cook and put in it [whew its so yummy makes my mouth water thinking about it] and comes home and we get to eat. Its a great way to help us or any other rescue that you might support. We love eating here :) By the way they even have snacks there too :)

Meet the Director

My name is Palena Dorsey. I am the founder of the Sanctuary. It has been an amazing journey for me. I have learned much from each animal that has crossed the path of my gates. Met many people who have made my journey possible. Endured loss from hurricanes, tornadoes and the loss of animals that I have grown to love very much. I have felt my heart almost burst with great joy as I watched life come into the eyes of an animal that had none, and felt it plumet into the depths of hell as I have watched life flow from the eyes of those that had no chance. I am asked often why I take in such hard cases, those that most do not want and I never can find an answer that can fully express my passion. A friend of mine, who is an actress and a wonderful entertainer with her voice, sent me a CD of her music. As I listened to the very last song on the CD I began to cry. In it was the answer to why I do what I do. The only way I can express why the Sanctuary does what it does is by the movie I created with the music of Tres Hanley. There are so many to thank and everyone knows who they are. The Board of Directors is the best anyone can ask for. Always standing by my side I know that not only am I blessed by them but the animals here are also blessed. A very special thanks to Maria Brito of Photography by Brito. Her love and commitment to rescue and or animals has all too often captured the true soul of the animals that reside here. A huge thankyou to the special angels that have believed in me and my passion over the years and help support us and a huge thank you to my family, who may think me odd but still stand up for my beliefs. Hi my name is Abbie. I am my mommies spoiled brat and I help her with the sanctuary. If you click on the title of this post (click on Meet Us or on the Sanctary movies to the right) you can see a movie about us.

We do a lot of good things here and I would like for you to see some of my friends like Hercules, and Sage and Blessing. Friends of mine that no one wanted or would help. They were in such bad shape it was hard at times to even know what they were.

We work hard here. I once did not have my own home either but my mom rescued me along with others and look at me now - here I am working wth her to save more.

You'll get to meet my two sisters Anjou and Smooches they work with me also to help educate about what is going on out there with my friends.

Please take seriously the epidemic of animal negect and abuse and join together with your local rescues and shelters to make a step in the rght direction towards reversng it. We need to make people aware.
